Project Overview
As Marina Home expanded its digital presence, the split-server architecture could not keep pace with growing traffic and complexity. Performance issues, unstable deployments, limited scalability, and rising costs impacted operations. Codilar partnered with Marina Home to redesign the architecture, optimize the Magento-PWA ecosystem, automate deployments, and implement advanced security and monitoring.
Business Challenges
The existing split-server setup created performance issues as traffic increased
Mobile users experienced slow load times and delayed PLP/PDP rendering
The platform ran on a single-node Magento setup, leading to scalability limitations
Backend-frontend communication resulted in over-fetching and API inefficiencies
There was no auto-scaling capability to handle traffic spikes
Lacked robust security controls, increasing vulnerability risks
Monitoring and observability were limited, leading to reactive issue handling
Codilar's Solution Approach
Implemented a scalable multi-node AWS architecture with auto-scaling & load balancing
Isolated services within a secure VPC for enhanced reliability and fault tolerance
Implemented AWS WAF to protect against DDoS, SQL injection, and XSS threats
Optimized PWA bundle sizes, GraphQL queries, and image delivery mechanisms
Introduced Gumlet CDN for automated image compression and global delivery
Stabilized CI/CD with zero-downtime deployments and rollback readiness
Aligned Magento backend performance with PWA traffic behavior
Right-sized infrastructure resources to improve utilization and reduce costs
Enabled 24/7 monitoring with proactive alerting and structured backup strategies
Enabled backups for disaster recovery for complete application

When a Premium Retail Experience Needed a Digital Commerce Boost
The Hidden Strain on Growth
Marina Home had built its brand around immersive showroom experiences. Customers walked into curated spaces that felt inspiring and refined. But online, as traffic increased and features expanded, the underlying infrastructure began to show strain.
The major issues impacting the platform were slow website performance during peak traffic events, deployment processes that required extreme caution, and occasional build failures that disrupted release cycles. Although nothing was visibly broken, the foundation wasn't built for the next phase of scale. In short, growth was happening, and so the platform simply needed to catch up.
Rethinking the Foundation
Rather than small adjustments, we tackled the project with a foundational design. We replaced the existing split-server setup with a secure, scalable multi-node AWS architecture designed to support growth without compromise. Deploying auto-scaling units allowed the system to automatically grow when demand spiked, with load distributors smartly managing incoming requests for steady operation. Separating services also improved error resistance, reducing the chance of system-wide breakdowns.
To bolster security, we put in place a standardized Web Application Firewall and formalized disaster recovery through automated backups aligned with defined RPO and RTO benchmarks. What used to be a system responding to issues transformed into a durable, purposefully built commerce base designed for reliability.
Engineering Performance into the Experience
On the frontend, we tackled performance enhancement with great care. We cut down JavaScript package dimensions by as much as 40 percent, polished GraphQL requests to retrieve only essential data, and removed duplicate service calls that impeded speed. Pictures were improved and served via Gumlet CDN for quicker loading globally.
On the backend, we adjusted settings to better manage the high volume of service requests typical of the PWA. Redis caching was optimized, and PHP-FPM processes were adjusted to competently deal with simultaneous connections and high traffic. The result was more than just quicker screen displays, but a markedly fluid and dependable purchasing experience for users on any device.

From Manual Risk to Predictable Releases
We stabilized previously fragile build processes by implementing fully automated CI/CD pipelines. Tailored builds for each environment guaranteed uniformity between testing and live systems, and the introduction of timed rollouts, quick reversal options, and seamless update techniques substantially lowered operational hazards.
Consequently, the need for hands-on deployment work declined sharply, build fulfillment ratios climbed past 99 percent, and software releases became orderly and dependable. What previously demanded careful handling and tight oversight transformed into a reliable, reproducible deployment flow.
Stability as a Strategic Advantage
We implemented continuous monitoring to bring real-time visibility into both infrastructure and application performance. Automated health checks and proactive alerting mechanisms allowed us to detect and address issues before they could impact customers.
As a result, the platform maintained 100 percent uptime for nearly a year, including during high-traffic campaigns and peak sales events. Performance, scalability, security, and cost efficiency were no longer trade-offs. They began working together as part of a unified, resilient commerce ecosystem.
Build What's Next
When growth begins to stretch infrastructure, the right engineering foundation makes all the difference. Marina Home's journey shows how performance, scalability, and operational stability can align to support expansion without disruption.
As an Adobe Gold Solution Partner, Codilar partners with enterprise Magento brands to modernize their digital ecosystems and prepare for sustained growth. With a resilient foundation in place, scale becomes predictable, operations become confident, and the path forward becomes clearer.
